About This Project
The Xero2 project has seen the old Manthel Motors building, on the corner of Wakefield and Taranaki streets in Wellington, have new foundations put in place using CCS Jet Pile technology. Total 164 Piles, 8–17m, diameter 350-550mm.
The Building is above the typical reclaimed land, features of reclaimed land:
- Highly valuable land
- Varied and unpredictable ground / strata
- Rising water tables due to global warming
The potential risks of reclaimed land:
- Susceptibility to seismic liquefaction
- Ground subsidence
- Obstacles during pile installation
- Unpredictable performance from traditional piles
